Childhood Obesity Indicators: Capturing the National Impact of Extension

In 2012, the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) established national evaluation indicators for the 5 priority areas of childhood obesity, climate change, food safety, global food security and hunger and sustainable energy. States have been encouraged to select and incorporate these indicators into their Plans of Work in an effort to provide a national perspective regarding the progress made in these areas. This webinar will provide accurate information about the national indicators related to childhood obesity from the federal perspective and will help educate state, regional and county level staff about how to incorporate programming that addresses these outcomes as well as the importance of having a national voice for Extension.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members.
