Are We Entrepreneurs?

Creating content may be the easiest part of digital outreach! Join us for this webinar and hear the story of three Extension professionals and an amazing intern as they embarked on a journey filled with social media challenges and discovery. This multi-state Extension team used themselves and the Power of Business multi-state Extension initiative (PowerofBusiness.net) as a business case study by following the information they provide many entrepreneurs: Create a plan and measure the results. This webinar will provide findings from a study funded by the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development focused on 1) strengthening Extension’s support of entrepreneurs while also 2) determining the best ways to reach business owners with information designed to help them grow various aspects of their enterprises. Experiences and information from this study are designed to help other Extension programs and professionals act more like entrepreneurs with their outreach efforts by 1) increasing their capacity to reach clientele through marketing efforts and 2) assessing the impact of Next Generation Extension practices with social media.

Presented by:

Connie Reimers-Hild, PhD (Rural Futures Institute at the University of Nebraska),  Glenn Muske, PhD (NDSU Extension Service - Center for Community Vitality) and Connie Hancock (Community Vitality Initiative Educator with Nebraska Extension)

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
