Using Data to Understand the Community You Serve

Are you or would you like to be using data in your work to understand and improve the communities you serve? Do you want to know more about about the opportunities you have to make data-driven decisions for your constituents' well-being, and to monitor your community's progress? Are you interested in sharing your experiences and needs with other Extension professionals?

If so, join us for a virtual chat on Thursday, December 10, 2020, from 1pm to 2pm EST.  Our team is preparing an eFieldBook about using data for Extension professionals, and we invite you to participate in this interactive discussion that will help us tailor the publication for you. We will be talking about the importance of data, barriers to data use that you might be facing and how to overcome them, and about portals, dashboards, and other resources that can get you started quickly. Come share your thoughts with us and fellow Extension professionals, and then look out for a helpful publication coming next summer!

The chat will be led and moderated by Teja Pristavec (University of Virginia Biocomplexity Institute) and Mike Lambur (Virginia Tech / Virginia Cooperative Extension).

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.

This technology is supported in part by New Technologies for Ag Extension (funding opportunity no. USDA-NIFA-OP-010186), grant no. 2023-41595-41325 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
