Upcoming Self-Care Workshop for Military & Veteran TBI Caregivers

The Military Families Learning Network (MFLN) is partnering with the Defense Health Agency’s Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) at 11:00 AM ET on November 30, 2021 for an interactive self-care workshop for military and veteran traumatic brain injury (TBI) caregivers. RSVP to join at Military and Veteran TBI Caregivers.

Presenters will provide education and insight into TBI caregiver resources, common concerns, self-care strategies, research, and best practices to improve caregiver quality of life.

Since 2000, over 444,000 service members have been diagnosed with a TBI, with many members of the U.S. Armed Forces classified as mild TBI (DoD TBI Worldwide Numbers, 2021). Due to the severity of TBI, there may be factors that affect the quality of life for survivors. Caregivers play an integral role in supporting the health and well-being of these individuals. However, it is important to recognize the emotional, physical and financial toll that is placed on this new caregiving role for many military families.

If you or someone you know may be interested in learning more, there is still time to RSVP to join. Note: FREE Continuing education credit will be available for the following providers: Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Case Managers, Board Certified Patient Advocates, and Certified Family Life Educators.

About the Presenters

The upcoming session will have representatives from TBICoE including, Regional Education Coordinators, Kristen Benson and Courtney Sadler. Also joining TBICoE representatives is Gabriela Ryan, Certified Brain Injury Specialist and former TBI Educator at the Tampa VA Polytrauma Network Site.
