Results from the January 2021 Farm Journal Story Lead Contest

Last year, the Extension Foundation launched a monthly story lead contest in partnership with Farm Journal in the Farm Journal Monthly Story Lead Contest subgroup here in Connect Extension. Monthly winners, along with their Extension Directors and Administrators, have the chance to work with Farm Journal to further develop their story and have it published in Farm Journal media. The topic area for the January 2021 contest was about Ecosystem Service Supporting Practices & Opportunities for Farmers to Unlock Revenue Streams Based Upon Natural Resource Stewardship

Susan Jaster from Lincoln University Cooperative Extension submitted the winning story lead, SARE project :Regenerative Practices find Free Ecoservices. Congrats to Susan and Lincoln University! We look forward to seeing your story published by Farm Journal!

February 2021 Contest

The February 2021 Story Lead Contest has been posted and is due on March 3rd.

For February 2021, Farm Journal wants to highlight the incredible work happening at the 1890 Land Grant Institutions. What Extension projects or programs are being led by Cooperative Extension professionals at 1890 LGUs that are making a measurable impact in the lives of farmers or ranchers? Learn more here.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
