The SEED Method: An Evidence-Based Method for Engaging Communities

The SEED Method is a multi-stakeholder approach to engaging communities in research, problem solving, and action planning. Developed at Virginia Commonwealth University, SEED provides a framework for collaborative research and action planning that can be scaled up or down depending on project resources and goals.

Three rural counties applying the SEED Method to opioid and substance misuse

We are assisting three rural Virginia counties use the SEED Method to critically evaluate the opioid and substance misuse issue that is effecting the health and well-being of the people that live there. We are currently forming the community teams that will lead the process, and have our first Kick-off meeting in one of the counties in April. The unique assests and resources of individual communities shapes the form that this process takes, and we are looking forward to seeing how these communities come together to tackle this "wicked problem". Look out for future updates on their progress.
