National Extension Climate Initiative

The National Extension Climate Initiative serves to link climate change-related education and research across Extension program areas and associations. This subgroup acts as a place to share opportunities and resources, and discuss all things related to climate change extension.

The December 2024 NECI professional development webinar will be held on December 4th .  Featured speaker is Seth  Spencer from Climate Generation



The Summer Institute for Climate Change Education connects ~350 educators and professionals from around North America to share knowledge, resources, and best practices on teaching climate change to students. Now in its 20th year, the Summer Institute is co-planned and developed by 15 federal, state, and ngo organizations. Come learn more about the institute and this model of collaboration and community building with Seth Spencer, the Teach Climate Network Coordinator at Climate Generation, the host of the Summer Institute. 



Seth joined Climate Generation in 2020 and coordinates the Teach Climate Network, helping the education program to create powerful professional development opportunities for educators across the country. Seth is a member of the Midwest Climate Collaborative’s Community of Practice  leadership team, and coordinator of the Teach Climate Network Cohort Collation. Seth is excited about sharing his experiences in environmental education and positive youth development with the climate change education community.
