National Extension Climate Initiative

The National Extension Climate Initiative serves to link climate change-related education and research across Extension program areas and associations. This subgroup acts as a place to share opportunities and resources, and discuss all things related to climate change extension.

Climate Series Webinar

Please join us for an upcoming webinar series on climate change in North Carolina, co-hosted by the State Climate Office of North Carolina and the North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies (NCICS).

We will kick off this series on September 3, 1-2:30 pm with a webinar aimed at providing an overview of the latest climate science from the recent North Carolina Climate Science Report, as well as activities to address climate change happening in the state. Time at the end will be devoted to audience Q&A.

Upcoming webinars in this series will dive into specific topics and focus on their relevance to Extension:

  • Warming Temperatures: Extreme Heat and Nighttime Warming

  • Hurricanes and Extreme Precipitation (scheduled for October 20, 10-11:30 am)

  • Drought and Wildfires

  • Sea Level Rise

  • Talking About Climate Change

Dates for these future webinars are currently being scheduled and will be posted as soon as they are confirmed. 

We encourage you to pass on this information to interested colleagues, such as Extension Volunteer Master Gardeners. Registration to each webinar will be limited to 300, with priority given to N.C. Cooperative Extension Personnel. All webinars will be recorded with the links posted to the NC Climate Office’s website within a few days (https://climate.ncsu.edu).
