Preventing Suicide: The Role of Law, Policy, and Social Determinants

The webinar will highlight how an evidence-based approach can be taken to reduce suicides in communities, which includes working with partners and various sectors to address the broader social determinants of health while also leveraging legal and policy tools.

You’ll hear from leading public health, suicide prevention, and policy experts, government representatives, and community partners about how they’ve addressed the role of social determinants in preventing suicide. Given the considerable progress that partners have made over the past decade to achieve Healthy People 2020 suicide prevention-related objectives, we’ll also discuss how these valuable lessons learned can help drive action over the next decade with Healthy People 2030.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
