Connect Extension Virtual Chat: Gamifying Food Labels

Virtual Chat

Click Here at 1 PM ET on November 12th to Join the Virtual Chat! Connect Extension Account Required to Participate. Cooperative Extension professionals can join Connect Extension here.

Each month, the eXtension Foundation will host a virtual chat here on Connect Extension, available to all Cooperative Extension professionals. The purpose of these short virtual chats is to highlight best practices and innovation throughout Cooperative Extension. Each session will be a different topic area.

Gamifying Food Labels

Food labels can confuse consumers in the grocery store. There are several types of food labels. Nutrition labels are an example of a food label required by regulatory agencies. Other labels are optional and added by the manufacturer or distributor. Food label examples include non-GMO, natural, and organic. A team at the University of Connecticut Extension is gamifying food labels to provide an interactive and fun way to educate consumers about different types of labels. This chat will include a discussion on food labels and gamification approaches to consumer education.

This conversation will be hosted by Jen Cushman, and moderated by Sharon Gray and Stacey Stearns.

To participate, Cooperative Extension professionals will need to have a Connect Extension account. To register your free Connect Extension account, click here.

FAQs for Learn Calendar Users:

Will a recording be available?

That is entirely up to the host of this webinar/online event. If this is an eXtension Foundation hosted event - we will update this calendar listing with a link to the recording usually within 48 hours. Keep in mind, many of the offerings found here in Connect Extension are brought to you by your colleagues across the system. While we encourage them to update their listings with recordings, it is entirely up to them.

How do I know if it is an eXtension-hosted event?

eXtension posts publicly our events to two calendars - the eXtension Foundation Member Calendar and the Opportunities for Cooperative Extension Calendar.  All other events coming from across Cooperative Extension are posted to the Learn Calendar or to one of the regional calendars. All calendars populate to the same main calendar on Connect Extension. To tell the difference between what events are posted to what calendars easily, you'll see the name of the calendar posted above the title of the event if you scroll to the top.

What if I have trouble accessing this webinar?

Please contact the author of this calendar event. The individual that posted this event will have their username automatically listed at the bottom of the body of their post, right above the social media buttons. When you hover over that name, you are able to send them a private message.
