Extension Skills: Communicating your Extension Story to Elected Officials

Led by a seasoned expert, Dr. Anne Megaro, this session will explore effective strategies for conveying the impact and value of your Extension work to elected officials, fostering productive relationships, and maximizing engagement. Learn tips on crafting compelling messaging tailored to policymakers, leveraging data and evidence to support your initiatives, and building sustainable partnerships for long-term success.


New MyPlate Resources to Help Consumers Eat Healthfully on a Budget

The COVID-19 pandemic and National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health elevated the national dialogue on achieving greater nutrition security in the US. MyPlate’s messaging pillars are oriented toward educating the public on nutrient density, health equity, and cost-consciousness. As part of its MyPlate Nutrition Communicators Network, USDA partners with organizations to develop and extend resources based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate. This webinar will highlight newly created, unbranded, and free downloadable resources for educators to use to encourage and support consumers in eating healthier on a budget.

Dynamic Discussions: Equity Needs in Cooperative Extension with AEBC - Self-Aware Approaches to Working Across Differences

Crucial Influence is rooted in 50 years of social science research and teaches the renowned Six Sources of Influence model. The course reveals the personal, social, and structural sources that shape behavior and teaches a method for using these sources to influence people and results.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
