The EXCITE national program team is happy to announce the EXCITE program is continuing! The CDC, NIFA, and the Extension Foundation will support projects in our LGU Cooperative Extension communities to address adult immunization education. This opportunity is open to all Land Grant institutions regardless of previous EXCITE participation.

As a reminder, EXCITE is a nationwide response by U.S. Cooperative Extension made possible through an interagency agreement between USDA-NIFA and the CDC. The CDC chose Cooperative Extension as a partner in immunization education because of the system's ability to collaborate with partners, deliver comprehensive educational programming, and is seen as a trusted messenger when sharing science-based information.

The next phase of EXCITE will feature a Design Phase with monthly workshops and accompanying office hours to help prepare projects for implementation.
For your planning, here are the scheduled events in 2022:

  • Project Intro Session - September 22nd 2022, at 3:00 PM ET
    Office Hour - September 28th 2022, 3:00-4:00 PM ET
  • Partnership and Priority Population Workshop - October 13th, 2022, at 4:00 PM ET
    Office Hour - October 19th 2022, at 1:00-2:00 PM ET
  • Budget and Finance Workshop - November 3rd, 2022, at 3:00 ET
    Office Hour - November 30th, 2022 at 10:00- 11:00 AM ET
  • Adult Immunizations in your State Workshop - December 1st, 2022, at 3:00 PM ET
    Office Hour - December 7th, 2022, 4:00-5:00 ET

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
