Spring 2023 course registration at Colorado State University Online is open through Monday, January 16th. Enrolling in courses is as easy as clicking this orange button and submitting your ESP- Employee Study Privilege form. You do not have to be enrolled in a Graduate program to take individual courses. Graduate courses are a great PD opportunity to enhance your skills and build up your CV.

The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Team Ag Ed, is thrilled to introduce you to Dr. Aryn Baxter! Aryn has redeveloped AGED 600 to meet the needs of Extension professionals in evaluation and research development.  Aryn brings global perspectives and evaluation experiences to the team; we are honored and excited to have her. NEW!! AGED 600 - Evaluation and Applied Research in Extension

  • Are you an extension educator interested in demonstrating and improving the impacts of your programs on individuals and communities?
  • Would you like to develop the skills to design and conduct culturally responsive program evaluations?

Consider enrolling in AGED 600: Evaluation and Applied Research in Extension. This course is designed to equip extension educators with a professional-level understanding of applied research and program evaluation practices. Participants will learn to interpret and critically analyze program evaluation studies and will apply the skills developed to design a culturally responsive program evaluation that could be implemented in their professional context. With a focus on evaluations that respect diversity, improve quality, and promote usability, the course will add valuable and transferable skills to every extension educator’s toolkit.

The course is taught by Aryn Baxter, assistant professor of practice in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and associate director of development and education for international agriculture program at CSU Spur. Aryn is a scholar-practitioner who has designed and conducted evaluations of variety of international education and international development programs in both U.S. and international contexts. She has taught program evaluation skills to researchers and practitioners in a variety of fields, including the education, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors. Aryn grew up in western New York state in an agricultural county with more cows than people and has lived and worked around the world throughout her career in international higher education. Her current research interests include exploring agricultural education policies and practices from a global and comparative perspective and enhancing their contributions to equitable and sustainable development. She holds a master’s and doctorate in Education Policy and Administration with a focus on Comparative and International Development Education from the University of Minnesota.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members.
